In a fast-paced world filled with constant digital stimulation, we are hyper-connected, and it's easy to feel overwhelmed. We’re exposed to a constant influx of information, making it difficult to disconnect, leading to a growing sense of burnout and exhaustion.
Last summer, we invited you on a virtual tour of beautifully crafted cabins, shepherd huts and architect-designed treehouses that our land&water products call home. Leading the industry, our friends at Life Space Cabins create beautiful cabins and share a brand ethos that closely aligns with ours - one rooted in nature, sustainability, and championing time spent outdoors. This month, we spent some time delving into what makes a cabin the ideal place to switch off and asked Jamie Wilson, founder of Life Space Cabins, to share his thoughts on what makes these back-to-nature spaces so alluring…
“A connection to nature is forefront”
Nature is a powerful antidote, and at Life Space, we are its biggest advocate. Reset, relax, release, repeat. This is our mantra, and, as you would expect, it provides significant direction for our design.
Our architecture brings the outside in, incorporating design features such as large picture windows, floor to ceiling light, natural materials and design that orients around nature's rhythm.
Underpinning everything we do pivots around connecting with nature, meaning the end experience is nature-immersive.
“Outdoor living is a way-of-life”
It is no surprise that being outdoors and connected to nature is healing for both body and soul. Not only do our cabins bring nature closer, but they inspire a sense of adventure that can be accessible in the day-to-day by creating accessible outdoor space. A life outdoors is a life well lived, and at Life Space Cabins, we provide our guests with a deep connection to the outdoors.
Cabin life promotes a daily existence that is less complicated, where the rhythm of nature dictates the flow, and solitude prevails. From outdoor bathing (nothing beats a long soak in the tub whilst cloud spotting!) to relaxing in hammocks perfectly placed to take in a blanket of stars
Roast marshmallows around the firepit, feast outdoors or simply listen for the hoot of an owl - whatever it is, be sure to anchor yourself in a way of life that focuses on the simple things.
“You are situated in the middle of a huge natural playground”
Our spaces blend seamlessly with nature, from the materials we use to the architectural design and its connection to the landscape. Our portfolio is broad and spans from cabins perched on clifftops, balanced on granite boulders and nestled within rolling countryside - our dream is to build a floating cabin…
Being situated in areas of incredible beauty, a cabin stay allows for activities like walking, wild swimming and exploring to happen freely and in abundance. Many find that their sense of fun and adventure skyrockets, it really is quite magical!
“You don’t have to worry about the weather, we promise!”
It’s no secret that the weather in Britain can be unpredictable - we often experience four seasons in a single day. But don’t worry, Life Space Cabins are designed to handle whatever the skies throw at us. Some of our favourite moments have been spent curled up beside the fire, watching stormy skies roll by.
To ensure year-round comfort, our cabins are well-equipped for chilly and rainy days, with an ample supply of books, board games, journals, and logs for the fire. If you start to feel restless, venture out into the wild and explore - after all, there’s no such thing as bad weather, only poor clothing.
“Drift off under the stars”
In our cabins, you can watch the stars from the comfort of your own bed! Our stargazing windows are a very popular design feature - who wouldn’t want to watch the stars tucked under a duvet, given the opportunity?
Connecting with the sky at night has many benefits, and can improve your wellbeing. Feelings of awe have been clinically proven to reduce inflammation, lower the heart rate and increase the presence of the hormone oxytocin, boosting a wealth of positive emotions - we are proud to help facilitate that.
“There is focused space for rest”
Rest should be a priority for everyone. Too often, society treats rest as something to be earned - reserved for when we’re exhausted, unwell, or running on empty. We believe in turning this mindset around, making rest an intentional and essential part of your time, especially when staying in our cabins.
There’s no single way to enjoy a cabin. Some may choose to explore the surroundings, others might prefer cooking over an open fire, and some may simply embrace pure downtime. Whatever your preference, our cabins are designed to help you unwind, with luxury beds and cosy corners thoughtfully built for relaxation.
“You will have time to do… nothing”
The peaceful, distraction-free environment of a cabin can have a profound effect on both creativity and productivity. Whether you're working on a project, writing, or pursuing a personal hobby, the slower pace and quiet surroundings encourage focus and inspiration.
Read that book, listen to a podcast, meditate - the possibilities are endless.

“Focus on yourself and the comforts that bring you joy”
There’s no better place to truly prioritise your wellbeing than from the comfort of a cabin - it’s the perfect space to indulge. Take the time to cook nourishing food, light candles, and fully embrace relaxation.
In our cabins, we use land&water products, ensuring a sensory experience that enhances your stay. We also recognise the importance of quality sleep, and while cabins may traditionally evoke a back-to-basics lifestyle, we proudly champion luxury beds that offer hotel-style comfort.
“You will be part of a sustainable travel movement”
There’s little point in being a nature-focused company if we aren’t actively working to protect it. Our cabins are designed to celebrate and enhance the beauty of the natural world, and we are committed to operating Life Space Cabins as sustainably as possible. We believe in ‘doing our bit’ - making conscious choices about materials, processes, and logistics to create a positive impact and contribute towards a better future for all.
By choosing to stay in a cabin, you, too, are ‘doing your bit’, leaving a positive footprint on the environment.
