SUPPORTING DEMENTIA ADVENTURE THIS FEBRUARY

SUPPORTING DEMENTIA ADVENTURE THIS FEBRUARY

This February, inspired by Random Acts of Kindness Day on the 17th, we’re once again giving 5% of our online sales to a charity that’s close to our hearts: Dementia Adventure.

We’ve proudly supported Dementia Adventure for many years, since first meeting head of adventures, Catherine Reed, for our Elemental Women journal series. Their work is rooted in something we strongly believe in at land&water: that time spent outdoors in nature is key to supporting wellbeing, connection and confidence at every stage of life.

Read on to learn more about the charity’s incredible work, why we support them, and how your purchase this February can help to make a real impact on the lives of people living with dementia and their loved ones.

About Dementia Adventure

Around 900,000 people currently live with dementia in the UK, a number expected to rise to 1.6 million by 2040. Until a cure is found, it’s important that people living with dementia, and their families, are supported to live active, fulfilling lives.

Dementia Adventure works to remove the barriers that often prevent people with dementia from accessing the outdoors. Despite research showing that spending just 15 minutes a day in nature can improve mood, sleep, appetite and concentration – as well as reducing anxiety, depression and loneliness – many people with dementia are still discouraged from going outside due to concerns around safety, which can in turn lead to further declines in their physical, emotional and social wellbeing.

Dementia Adventure believes that, with the right support, anything is possible. Through supported holidays, activity days and specialist training for families and organisations, they help people living with dementia reconnect with both nature and themselves, build confidence and enjoy meaningful shared experiences with loved ones.

Why we support them – and your February impact

Promoting the wellbeing benefits of nature is at the core of what we do at land&water, which is why supporting Dementia Adventure feels like a natural partnership.

Thanks to your support in 2025, we helped:

  • 226 people to join 5-day supported holidays across the UK (37 breaks)

  • 140 people to enjoy Green Letter Days, including cricket, golf, garden walks, picnics and days on the water

  • The recruitment and training of 31 new volunteers, bringing the total to 133

  • 1,115 people to take part in free online training

  • 14,000+ people to join or watch Unpacking Dementia Facebook Live sessions

“As firm believers that time outside makes us feel better inside, we’re proud to champion Dementia Adventure and support their incredible work,” says land&water founder, Pix Ashworth. “By enabling access to the great outdoors, they bring joy, confidence and connection for those living with dementia and their carers.”

When you choose to shop with land&water this February, you’re helping Dementia Adventure continue their incredible work – creating opportunities for people living with dementia to experience the wide range of benefits that time outdoors can bring.
