"…a grand, gabled clifftop mansion built in 1899, seconds from the shoreline" – The Times
This spring, as longer days lure us back to the shoreline, we’re reigniting our Take Me To… series. Setting out to discover fresh destinations across the British Isles that unlock glorious days out in the elements – and also house the land&water collection – these unique spaces will draw you in and leave you feeling energised and invigorated.
Floating weightless in a tidal pool. Peeling laughter as crabs nip on patient lines. Balmy suppers under vaulted ceilings, an open vista of ever-shifting blues. Welcome to Atlanta Trevone, a collection of five carefully considered beachside holiday properties rewriting the rulebook on seaside self-catering stays.
Spurred by halcyon childhood memories and a family’s generational love for this special place, local family Jess and Ash Alken-Theasby have recently completed the colossal task of breathing new life into this impressive Victorian oceanfront property.
Blending antique relics with a warm contemporary feel, Atlanta is a reimagined canvas for idyllic seaside escapes. Every wall, every mantle, every inch of this considered space tells a story; whether it’s the hand-picked artefacts that nod to Trevone’s maritime history, the contemporary art bringing the family’s own character to the space, or the calming earthy hues and elemental textures that draw on the natural surroundings – you’re bound to leave inspired.
Perched proudly on Trevone’s grass-sloped cliffs, the property enjoys unbroken Atlantic views from its generous bay windows, where window seats invite guests to settle in and watch the slip and sway of the water below.
Epicurean explorers will relish the proximity to Padstow, just two miles away, where big name chefs such as Paul Ainsworth, Nathan Outlaw and the Padstow institution that is Rick Stein, bring their inspired seafood dishes to the table.
From long-table breakfasts where floor-to-ceiling sash windows and bi-fold doors cast eyes out towards Trevose Head, to evening soaks with land&water soothing oils in your bay view bathroom, Atlanta is a waterside sanctuary like no other.
Beyond its lawns, rocky outcrops stretch westwards, where cool tides draw back to reveal deep rock pools ripe for exploring. There’s even a natural bathing pool for sheltered low tide swims.
To the east, a large stretch of golden sand lies ready to host lazy days and picnics in the sun, before heading back to the comfort of Atlanta’s deep sofas.
Unfurling bi-fold doors for in and out summer days. Log-crackling marble fireplaces for cosying up on winter nights. Atlanta’s inviting spaces are designed to flow with the rolling rhythms of the seasons. And with five properties in the collection, including family-friendly boltholes and romantic hideaways, every break has its place.
“Atlanta Trevone sits adjacent to a rugged and unforgiving landscape, so what better way to embrace the elements, than from the warmth and luxury of a soaking tub with Cornish made and lovingly crafted land&water products? The branding is clean, calming and allows the interiors at Atlanta to take centre stage, but still plays a strong supporting act as part of the final show.”
– Jess Alken-Theasby
